Paint and Sip – Colorful Octopus*

Artväna, the leading Paint & Sip Events provider for Western Washington, will provide a fun and accessible art instruction experience with step-by-step painting instructions to create your very own artwork. The History of Tacoma's Parks*
Public parks and recreational opportunities have been important to the citizens of Tacoma since the city's incorporation in 1884. From small neighborhood parks to large regional parks like Point Defiance, to sports fields, to playgrounds, Tacoma's park system continues to grow and thrive. Melissa McGinnis, former historian for Metro Parks Tacoma, will discuss how Tacoma's park system grew from one small neighborhood park into the award-winning park district it is today and highlight some of the key individuals who helped make it all happen.

Senior University at Franke Tobey Jones provides a wealth of lifelong learning programs for people 55 or better, for both campus residents and seniors in the surrounding community. This educational and cultural program designed for seniors is unique to Pierce County. Senior University offers the opportunity to build skills, explore new subjects and enjoy the learning process with others.   Lecturers and instructors are experts in their fields hailing from local colleges and universities, businesses, not-for-profits and cultural organizations, along  with others who have retired with rich career experiences. Most classes are offered free of charge as a public service to the Tacoma-Pierce County community.
