The sunny days in April were the perfect time to plant lovely spring flowers on the Lillian Pratt Balcony which already has a magnificent view of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier.  Everyone was definitely in the mood to see some bright and beautiful flowers on this balcony that is enjoyed by so many residents.

Linda Tonjann, Director of First Impressions, and a FTJ team member of 35 years, created a fun project for the residents…and a beautiful one too.  They had the opportunity to plant flowers in the glorious sunshine with fellow residents.  Now, they can enjoy watching them bloom all spring!

Wellness Benefits of Flowers

It turns out those who chanted the phrase “flower power” in the 1960s and 1970s might have been onto something. Garden Media Groups points out “Several research studies from leading educational institutions have proven the many wellness benefits of having flowers in your home. Flowers have the power to improve many aspects of day-to-day life, including:

1. Increase creativity, innovation, and productivity

2. Positive effect on mood and emotions

3. Increased emotional connections

4. Boost sense of comfort

5. Increase energy and improve memory

Connecting with nature through outdoor gardening or bringing nature inside as cut flowers or container gardens is sure to have anyone feeling true “flower power!”
