Evolution of Ballet 
Learn about European classical ballet’s rich tradition from Louis XIV’s Versailles to its progression into the various eras. We will also greatly discuss ballet’s advances in The United States.

Friday, June 16, June 23, & June 30 

Finding, Telling, and Sharing Life Stories 
This 5-week (June 16 – July 14) course will teach participants to explore their life experiences, work them into short stories or vignettes and pass them on as legacy.  

Participants will learn: 

  • To chart their life experiences that made them who they are. 

  • To understand the story that underlies the life experience. 

  • To write creatively about life experiences in a short story or vignette. 

  • To give and receive feedback on their writing.  

  • Ways to pass on their stories as legacy.  

Students will benefit most by attending all sessions but are welcome to come to one or any combination of sessions. Please bring a notebook and something to write with.

Thursday, June 22 

Estate Planning: Wills, Trusts, Probate, and Everything In Between 
This is an in-depth discussion of estate planning and probate. Topics that will be discussed include wills, revocable living trusts, durable powers of attorney, probate and how to avoid it, and tips for choosing an executor. This will be an interactive discussion, so please bring your questions.

Senior University at Franke Tobey Jones provides a wealth of lifelong learning programs for people 55 or better, for both campus residents and seniors in the surrounding community. This educational and cultural program designed for seniors is unique to Pierce County. Senior University offers the opportunity to build skills, explore new subjects and enjoy the learning process with others.   Lecturers and instructors are experts in their fields hailing from local colleges and universities, businesses, not-for-profits and cultural organizations, along  with others who have retired with rich career experiences. Most classes are offered free of charge as a public service to the Tacoma-Pierce County community.
