The Care and Feeding of a Healthy Brain  
This four-part series will cover various, timely topics including (but not limited to): the elements of an inflammatory diet; how foods are helpful and harmful; what sort of exercise does my brain need?; neuropathways and how to make new ones; Habits, examining your own and learning to create new ones; sugar: its nearly irresistible power and what it does to your brain. Your brain and the rest of your body are communicating with each other all the time, but what are the messages?: lifestyle choices and how they can support or diminish your brain power; get better acquainted with the innerworkings of your thoughts; and empowering yourself to make better choices.

Learn to Knit 
Have you ever wanted to learn to knit? Have you ever wanted the perfect, cozy hobby that both relaxes your mind and makes you think, but also results in fun, cute, and practical objects to delight as gifts? This 4-part series will teach the basics and introduce you to all the tips and tricks you’ll need to create fun and practical knitted items. No previous knowledge of knitting is required. This class has a $25 supply fee and pre-registration is required. This program was made possible through a generous donation to Senior University.

Money Smart-Preventing Fraud 
In this class, you will learn to: recognize and reduce the risk of elder financial exploitation; guard against identity theft; plan for unexpected loss of the ability to manage your finances; prepare financially for disasters; and find other helpful resources on managing money and reporting financial exploitation.

Senior University at Franke Tobey Jones provides a wealth of lifelong learning programs for people 55 or better, for both campus residents and seniors in the surrounding community. This educational and cultural program designed for seniors is unique to Pierce County. Senior University offers the opportunity to build skills, explore new subjects and enjoy the learning process with others.   Lecturers and instructors are experts in their fields hailing from local colleges and universities, businesses, not-for-profits and cultural organizations, along with others who have retired with rich career experiences. Most classes are offered free of charge as a public service to the Tacoma-Pierce County community.
