Tacoma Community Ukulele Project: Exploring the Ukulele
The ukulele is an instrument that you can learn chords & songs on with no prior musical training, so please join us regardless of your previous musical experience and leave with the tools to keep learning on your own. Over the course of just four classes, you will learn at least 8 songs, multiple strumming patterns, practice techniques to carry your learning into the future, and all in a fun & engaging social setting! Glaciers at Work
Learn about glaciers and explore areas of Southeast Alaska that have been and are being carved by ice, including the Juneau Icefield Research Program that provides the longest continuous study of glaciers in the Western hemisphere. Senior University
Senior University at Franke Tobey Jones provides a wealth of lifelong learning programs for people 55 or better, for both campus residents and seniors in the surrounding community. This educational and cultural program designed for seniors is unique to Pierce County. Senior University offers the opportunity to build skills, explore new subjects and enjoy the learning process with others. Lecturers and instructors are experts in their fields hailing from local colleges and universities, businesses, not-for-profits and cultural organizations, along with others who have retired with rich career experiences. Most classes are offered free of charge as a public service to the Tacoma-Pierce County community.
