POINT DEFIANCE ~ RUSTON SENIOR CENTER

Beginning Crochet – March 4, 1:00 pm 

Vicki Cornwell will be joining us to teach Beginning Crochet. The class will begin on Monday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m., and it will be every week.  Yarn is provided, but the color will be limited.  If you would like a specific color, please bring your own. 

 

Introduction to Computers – March  6, 9:00 am

Thanks to the Ben Cheney  Foundation, we have been  able  to  upgrade our technology.  For those of you who might not know how to operate a computer or if you are afraid of computers, this class will walk you through the ins and outs of operating a computer.  Ron will be teaching this class.  This class starts on Wednesday, the 6th, at 9:00 a.m.  Please sign up for this free class.  Space is limited.

 

Hand and Foot – March 11, 9:00 am 

It’s time to get our Hand and Foot card game back!  Starting in March, the game will be held twice monthly: March 11, at 9:00 a.m. the cards will start to fly.  It will continue  on March 25.  The game will be on the second and fourth Monday each month. 

 

AARP Tax Free Preparation 

AARP Tax preparers have been busily working on taxes for the community.  If you have not had yours done, call today for an appointment.  There is now limited availability so don’t wait to the last minute to call when they don’t have space.  Taxes are prepared at Pt. Defiance-Ruston Senior Center on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Medicare 101 – March 4 at 10:00am 

Join us on March 4th at 10:00am for an informative presentation on everything you need to know about Medicare. 

 

Strength & Balance – Tuesdays at 11:00 am 

Want a fabulous way to get a little exercise, strengthen your muscles and have fun doing it? Mark your calendars for Tuesdays at 11:00am and join us for our Strength & Balance class! 

 

Beginning Computer Class – March 4 at 1:00pm 

Beginning Computer Class will start on Monday, March 4th, from 1pm to 2pm. Registration is required, and space is limited to five participants. If you need assistance registering Sandy, Vicki or Lynn will be happy to help. 

 

Technology Q&A – Mondays at 2:00pm 

Need help or have questions about your cell phone or new technology?  Ron Yaden will be here from the Point Defiance Ruston Senior Center to answer any of your questions on Mondays at 2pm. 

 

Council Member Kiara Daniels

On March 22nd at 11:00am,  Council Member Kiara Daniels will be speaking at the Beacon Senior Center to help us celebrate Women’s History Month.

 

Women’s History Month Movies 

We will be showing movies, featuring prominent women in history on the following dates and times: 

  • Monday, March 4th, at 10am, “Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight” 

  • Monday March 11th, at 10am, “Suffragette” 

  • Monday, March 25th, at 10am “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise”

Learn About your Transportation Options – March 8 at 10:00am 

Diana will be discussing several local options for transportation around Tacoma and Pierce County. 

 

Birthday Dance and St Patrick’s Day Dress Up – March 15 at 10:00 

Come to the birthday dance dressed in your St Patty’s Day best. A prize will be given for the boldest attire! 

 

Interactive Workshop – Planning for Continuing Life Changes – March 19 

This is the 3rd presentation in a monthly series. The topic this month is insurance.
