Tacoma Community Ukulele Project: Exploring the Ukulele

Fridays, February 6, 13, 27

10:00 am, Bristol View 1st Floor Bowditch Room 

The ukulele is an instrument that you can learn chords & songs on with no prior musical training, so please join us regardless of your previous musical experience and leave with the tools to keep learning on your own. Over the course of just four classes, you will learn at least 8 songs, multiple strumming patterns and practice techniques to carry your learning into the future, and all in a fun & engaging social setting!

SAIL Class

Every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. beginning February 5
SAIL stands for Stay Active and Independent for Life! This fitness program is designed to keep you active and independent.  We have a SAIL-certified instructor and best of all, it’s FREE!  Registration required for the first class; there is a limit of 25 participants.

Caregiver’s Resources

First Thursday of every month at 2pm.  Next meeting is Thursday, February 5

This monthly informational group helps caregivers the resources they need.  Topics will include: Aging in place - what does it really mean, Where to find resources, Payment options, Veterans’ caregiving benefits, and More!  You do not need to sign up for this monthly meeting.

Trip Presentation – Utah and New York City

February 11th at 11:00 a.m.

The Senior Center is offering some fantastic trips and two will be presented on February 11th  

Utah’s Mighty National Parks – October 2026

You’ll enjoy several nights in Moab, with day trips to beautiful parks like Arches, Capital Reef, Canyonlands, and more.

New York City – early December 2026.   

Enjoy 4 nights in downtown Manhattan seeing the sights!  Enjoy a Rockettes holiday show, a Broadway show, holiday lights tour, and visits to the Statue of Liberty, St Patrick’s Cathedral, the 9/11 Memorial, and more.  Celebrate the holidays in this beautiful, dynamic city!

Funeral & End-of-Life Planning Presentation

February 18, at 11:00 a.m.

Learn about options for your cremation or burial, the 25 documents you need before you die, various veterans' benefits, and more.  Plus, snacks!  A representative from Mountain View Funeral Home will be leading this informational presentation.  Join us on here at the senior center.  Please sign up for this presentation.

Attorney Liz Johnson is back!

February 24 at 9:45am.  

Liz Johnson will join us monthly on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 9:45am.  Note the time!  Her next presentation is Tuesday, February 24th.  Don't miss it!  Liz knows elder law and her practice specializes in estate planning, healthcare directives, Medicare planning, wills, probates, Medicaid appeals, trusts, powers-of-attorney and so much more. No registration required.

Community Programs

Community Programs are in full swing!

Many seniors spend time alone, and some of the worst times are in the evening and/or the weekend.  With that in mind, the Senior Center has started some ‘after-hours’ meetups.  Come and meet new friends and mingle with old ones! Registration required.
